Life at the Summers

Well its been over a month since the last post. Life has been great for our little family and I feel so blessed every day. I had to go back to work after Thanks giving I only work four days a week and my boss is great to schedule me around Brady's schedule which is why I feel so blessed because even if I cant be with my little guy I know he is in safe hands that I trust more than anything else. I also happen to have great parents in-laws and siblings who are willing to step in and watch Titan if the need arises, I really don't know how people have babies away from their families. Titan Sleeps from 10pm to 4am or longer which is great since I wake up for work about 4 so I get a good nights rest!! Lucky me. I also feel blessed that my dog Attlee gets along with us having a baby really well I was worried that we would have a lady and the tramp situation where she didn't feel loved, we did get her fixed though so no puppies. Attlee is very careful around him, i cant wait till Titan is older and they can be best friends. Brady is a great dad and loves Titan so much i love watching him play with Titan. Titan has started cooing and watching things move he is getting so big he was 9lb 2 oz at his last appointment and has started wearing size 1 diapers and 0 to 3 month clothes.

It's been two weeks!!

It has been the best and hardest two weeks I've had in a long time. I'll start with the hard stuff. When Titan got home we had to take him the next day to get his heel pricked to check his Billi Rubin levels (also know as Jaundice if it gets to high) well we got the call saying his levels were to high and he would have to be on a Billi bed. It looks like a tanning bed. Before I had my own baby I didn't think it was a big deal to have the baby on a tanning bed for a few days, but let me tell you it stressed me out to no end. I called my sister in law crying her little girl that is just 18 days older than Titan had to be on the bed for three days so she understood. Not only could I not hold him, the only time he could be off the lights was to eat. This became frustrating because we were not very good at nursing at the time and any time I kept him off the bed I felt guilty thinking he needed to be on the bed so he would get better. The same day we got the bed I found out that he had lost 10 ounces since birth and my doctor wanted me to supplement with formula so I felt like I wasn't do a very good job as a mom. I also think the emotions of just having a baby made me a little crazy.

The best stuff is Titan only had to be on the bed for 48 hours. We have been able to get better at nursing and hope to keep improving. He has gotten back to birth weight and a little more he was 6lb11 oz on Friday so we hope to keep the weight gain up. I love being able to stay home with him. It is amazing how much I can love this little guy!!Too bad I will have to go back to work. That stresses me out having to balance Brady's work schedule with mine...wish us luck but I know people do it all the time so I'm sure it will work out. As for sleep he is all over the place and wakes up anywhere from an hour and a half to four hours at night but its completely random.

Titan Robert Summers

Our little Titan decided that October would be the best month for his birthday, guess he wanted to be like his daddy who loves having his birthday in October. We were able to bring him home Sunday October 31st and It has been fun so far but we have only had one night of being home so far we shall see how it goes. Now on to the whole story of how it all happend, if you dont want to know I would skip this section. Dont worry it wasn't bad.
It all started early saturday October 30th at 2 am, I had three fears when it came to having a baby, Number 1 going into labor alone (with Bradys work schedul that wouldn't be to hard) Number 2 going into labor in the night, Number 3 having my water break ( I just really didnt want to make a mess anywhere) So as luck would have it all three of my fears happend, and to my suprise it wasn't bad at all. My water broke at 2 am with a little pop, I got up to go to the bathroom not being sure exactly what the pop was, that is when I felt my first gush of fluid. It only got my pants wet so my floor is still clean!! I didn't get any contractions at that point so I tried to go back to sleep but was far to excited for that. Brady had just got off work at 2am and had about an hour drive home so I decided to call him. He knew exaclty what my call ment at that hour why else would I call him. Once he got home we chated for a bit and I decided to eat since I wouldn't be able to eat for awhile. The we decided to try and get some rest since I still hadn't had any contratctions. I sent a text off to my boss since I was supposed to be at work that morning letting him know that I wouldn't make it in. I kinda slept on and off till six when the contractions started. I tried to time them but they were all over the place so I just decided to take a shower knowing I had a long day ahead of me. I called my doctor at seven to see what he wanted me to do. He said to go ahead and come on in to the hospital. I woke Brady and he showered and we stopped to get him some breakfast. We got to the hospital at about eight. They took us into the treeagie room to make sure my water had broken and everything else they check to make sure your read to go. We spend quite a bit of time in there because the test that would tell if there was amniatic fluid being released wasn't working. I was dialated to a 3 and effaced to 90 percent. While we were waiting my contractions got worse and they emited me at about 1130. They had the annisitoligist come in to place my epidural almost as soon as I got to the room. That worked out to be very nice timing because when my contrations started getting really bad the drugs kicked in. So I am lucky to say that for me the contractions never got to the point of scaring me from having more children. So then we played the waiting game for me to fully dialate so we could start pushing. They also started me on Pitocin to help contracts go faster and that turned out to be to much and they turned it off because it was speeding me up to much, next time I think I'll opt out on not having the patocin in I dont really need it. That only took at few hours and we watched never been kissed good movie. At 320 we stared pusing with the nurse, the doctor came at 345 and we just had a pushing party. The doctor said that it took most first time moms two hours to push the baby out so my goal was to be faster than that. With pushing from start to finish it took 1 hour and 10 min!! ya us!! He had alot of the "cheese" skin cover on him since he was two weeks early. He was 6lbs 10 oz 18 inches long born at 4:32 10-30-10. We stayed at the hospital for just under 24 hours from the time he was born. I loved all the ladies at the hospital that helped me out it was a very nice stay and we are so lucky to have out little guy!

Our 9 month projects!!

As most of you know my "9 month project" is almost done November 13Th if he plays by the rules. I thought I would cheat and show you a few pictures of Brady's "9 month project" Being the handy man he is he watches all the fix up your house shows and they inspired him to build a built in BBQ grill with a sink, counter and gas fire place! Before he started these projects he has no clue how to do tile, plumb, gas, stone or electric work. Somehow he has been able to put together quite the amazing project. NOT a skill I have at all, so I'm very proud of his great job. All he has left is to stucco and put grout in the stones.

Double Doctor Day Wednesday

Well Wednesday was an interesting day in our little family. Brady thought he had gotten ammonia posing from work and was not feeling well at all. We talked to poison control and they said that they would take him into an ER. We decided to try and wait it out over night and hope he started feeling better. By the next morning he was starting to become dehydrated so we took him in. We got to the hospital around 10, we were the only ones in the waiting room and it still took 20 min to get in. The nurse started him on and iv and the doctor came in and checked him out. She said that his symptoms were not consistent with amniona poisoning so he must have just had a bad bug. So lucky us we get to pay for an emergency room visit, but we have him double insured with my job and his so I'm interested to see how that works out.

The second doctors visit went very well it was my 32 week appointment for the baby. He is doing well kicking and moving a lot and he is already head down, but he never hits my ribs when he kicks guess I have a lot of room for him to move. He hasn't dropped yet but things are looking good. I now get to see the doctor every 2 weeks. It feels strange to be at that stage in my pregnancy.

That was our Double Doctor Day, over all good everyone is feeling better and is happy!!

Freezer canning peaches

My in-laws went out of town just in time for their peaches to be nice and ripe, so since Brady and I are the only ones staying behind we were able to reap the fruits of their success. Sunday afternoon Brady and I blanched vacuum sealed the bags for the freezer, I think it turned out to be a great success!!

Cheap Couches

When my brother and sister-in-law Eric and Armanda bought their new house a few months back the previous people left them two nice-sh leather couches. Well since they had no need for them Brady and I inherited them lucky us. The arm rests on both couches had some peeling up. Since Emily's bridal shower is at my house this Friday I decided it was time to get them fixed, so here are the pictures of my project. I think with spending a whopping twenty bucks on two couches is a great deal.
